What is Religious Ed/Catechesis?
The mission of teaching the Christian faith is called Catechesis.
Religious Ed is the name of our “Sunday School” program for students in grades PK-8. Church teaching and faith formation is led by teachers called Catechists, gathered in grade-level class groups.
Our Faith Formation programs require faithful adults to lead groups of children in lessons and prayers. Are YOU being called to consider volunteering in one of these roles?*
-Religious Ed Catechist: Leads lessons and activities for a class of students. Gets to know the individual students in their class and liaisons with their families and the DRE as needed.
-Religious Ed Classroom Assistant: Helps the Catechist with organizing the classroom materials and managing the student group. May be asked to monitor individual students with special attention to their needs.
* Child and Youth Protection Virtus Certification is required for all Faith Formation Volunteers.
* *Guardians who volunteer as Catechists are granted free tuition; and volunteer Classroom Assistants are granted reduced tuition for their children.
