The history of our present location is that the space was meant to be used temporarily until a permanent church could be built. Eventually the space that the church occupied was to be converted back to its original purpose—an auditorium for our school. But like so many other church facilities built in a similar way, this conversion never occurred.

In the mid-1980's, a renovation was undertaken, which built the current sanctuary and updated the interior space. This addition left the nave (the body of the church) virtually unchanged.

As our parish has grown we have been left with little expandable space and forced to live with this less than ideal worship condition.

There are several additional drawbacks to our current space:

• We have no distinguishable outside entrance to our church.

• Our gathering space is too small to allow us to meet and greet one another after Mass. It is also inadequate to use for small social functions that would encourage and build a stronger sense of community.
   
• Since the church has very few windows, there isn't enough natural light to brighten the interior and offset the dark wood and dark carpeting.
   
• The long and narrow seating arrangement in the nave is not conducive to creating the intimate, participatory environment for liturgy.

• The tabernacle should be located in a more reverent place than it currently is.
   
• Music ministry is often situated in the back of the church, frequently blocking access from the aisles to the main entrance and exit doors. This is not only an inconvenience but is also a violation of fire code laws. Also, because the musicians are behind us, they are not in the best position to lead us in song.
   
• Office space for our parish staff and meeting rooms within the church itself are also very limited. At the present time, the Marian Room is our main adult meeting and fellowship space. Some of our staff must also share offices with other ministries.
   
• We need a marquee on Wilkens Avenue that will easily identify the parish campus and indicate the Mass schedule and special functions.
